About Us

Windward Church of the Nazarene (originally named Kaneohe Church of the Nazarene) began holding services in 1958. We bought property on Mokulele Drive, constructing a chapel building and an educational building during the 1960's. We will soon celebrate 60 years of ministry on the breezy, moderate "windward side" of the island of Oahu.

As the church grew during the 1960's, the neighborhood was experiencing a baby boom. Church members soon realized that a daycare or preschool operation would be very helpful to the entire community. With active community support, the church launched "Kaneohe Kiddie Kollege" for young children.

Gradually, responding to the needs of our neighbors, the "kiddie college" added kindergarten and elementary school classes. Teachers were hired; school administrators began working toward the process of educational accreditation.

Today, Windward Nazarene Academy is a fully accredited school offering Pre-K (3 year old) through 8th grade classes. With an emphasis on excellence in Christian education, our graduates are consistently accepted into the finest private schools in Hawaii. They achieve high test scores and go on to academic and professional achievement.
